Park Regis Kris Kin Hotel Dubai switched off its lights from 8.30pm to 9.30pm on March 28 to commemorate the Earth Hour 2015, the world’s largest grassroots movement for the environment. It was yet another CSR initiative of the hotel to minimise carbon emissions and to support sustainable solutions for global warming and climate change.

Mr. Scott Butcher, General Manager of Park Regis Kris Kin Hotel Dubai, said that climate change is a global concern. But the fact that Earth Hour, a humble initiative taken eight years ago in Sydney, has turned into a global campaign gives hope that people have the power to take on the challenge.

He said, “Earth Hour is not just an annual event to save energy for an hour. During the past few years it has become a movement that has made us aware of how small steps such as these can benefit the environment. The event returns only to remind us of our responsibilities and to fill us with energy to continue our efforts.”

On the day lights were switched off for an hour in various areas of the hotel including the pool side, recreation, podium floor, meeting rooms, corridors on Mezzanine and ground floor. Park Regis Kris Kin Hotel roof top sign and light box were also switched off.

Signs regarding Earth Hour were placed in the lobby, Kris with a View restaurant and the recreation area raising awareness about the event. Guests were also informed about the event to ensure their safety and also to encourage them to support the campaign.

The Earth Hour activities were also extended to the staff accommodation premises. All hotel staff participated in the event by switching off the lights showing solidarity with the rest of the world to save the Earth.
