Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD) agreed with Cultural Program and Heritage Festivals Committee – Abu Dhabi signed a cooperation agreement regarding a number of UAE cultural tourism activities.

The agreement was signed by ATDD General Manager Faisal Ahmed Al Nuaimi and Committee Member and Liwa Dates Festival Manager Obeid Khalfan Al Mazroo’ie, with ATDD Tourism Development and Marketing Director Khulood Khalid Al Nuaimi and Committee Member Essa Seif Al Mazroo’ie attending.

The agreement has many targets, on top of which is holding the Liwa Dates Festival’s copy in Ajman, according to the ATDD general manager.

“Liwa-Ajman Dates Festival, planned to be an annual event in Ajman, serves many sectors and segments; tourists, residents, history and heritage specialists and farmers,” said Faisal Al Nuaimi, adding that “the event is expected to be held on August 5-7”.

“ATDD and Abu Dhabi’s Committee are keen on working together serving tourism industry development efforts in both emirates,” he added.

For his part, Liwa Datest Festival manager said the event serves efforts to promote UAE culture and heritage on the regional and international levels. “It also supports sustainable tourism development and plans to lure more investments in the tourism sectors,” he added.

“The agreement represents a general framework for cooperation in the fields of information and expertise exchange”, he said, adding that a joint committee would be formed to implement and follow up all procedural steps leading to holding Liwa-Ajman Dates Festival.

The first round of Liwa-Ajman Dates Festival, organized by Ajman Culture and Media Department in 2011, had been held under the patronage of Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman HH Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi and Ajman Crown Prince Ammar Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi.

Meanwhile, Abu Dhabi’s Committee Member Essa Seif Al Mazroo’ie announced that the 11th Liwa Dates Festival would be held on July 20-30 under the patronage of Deputy Prime Minister and Presidential Affairs Minister Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
