UAE-founded hospitality company, TIME Hotels Management, has announced the appointment of a new vice president of sales and marketing with seasoned international hotelier, Roddy Gordon, taking over the role from outgoing incumbent, Tommy Ressopoulos, who retires at the end of October.

British national Gordon has almost three decades’ experience in sales and marketing on three continents, and is a recognised specialist in strategic revenue activation with a track record of successful sales leadership in changing global markets.

Also joining the team as director of revenue is Dushan Gunarathna, who brings e-commerce expertise and a solid reservations background to the TIME corporate leadership, as well as in-depth knowledge of the region.

“Roddy’s commercial credentials speak for themselves, but his experience in imbuing corporate culture within his team as well as forging mutually beneficial long-term partnerships that communicate shared values, will add a further dimension to his role and – hopefully – to TIME Hotels’ reputation in the region’s key markets,” said Mohamed Awadalla, CEO, TIME Hotels.

His professional career has taken him around the world with Hyatt International, and to the UAE with Atlantis, Rosewood Abu Dhabi and Tamani Hotels & Resorts. He also has extensive experience in hotel pre-openings, launching high profile properties in key gateway destinations such as Seoul, Dubai and Abu Dhabi; as well as a track record in defining and implanting successful sales and marketing strategies for leading and upcoming brands.

“Dushan’s e-distribution and revenue knowledge combined with Roddy’s expansive industry experience and reputation in the region will be a fantastic foundation for TIME Hotels’ to consolidate our strategy and capitalise on new potential areas of revenue enhancement and market penetration,” remarked Awadalla.

Gunarathna joins the team from another home-grown brand, Rotana Hotels, where he fast tracked his career path, progressing from reservations agent to area e-distribution manager, with responsibility for 27 properties, in just five years.

“I am delighted to be joining Time Hotels and look forward to embracing this unique culture, and putting our global customer relationships at the heart of our sales and marketing direction, as we continue to grow our team capabilities and access new and exciting opportunities,” said Gordon.

TIME Hotels continues on its ambitious growth path with a total of nine operational hotels, hotel apartments and residences and expects three additional hotels to be up and running in 2016 and their first TIME Express property to be opened in 2017.
