Hong Kong Trade Fairs in January and March 2016
Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) organises more than 30 exhibitions each year to bring together buyers and suppliers from both economies to develop their business.

Adding to the Hong Kong’s business advantages, Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) organises more than 30 exhibitions each year to bring together buyers and suppliers from both economies to develop their business.
Mr. Abdul Aziz Nasser, Deputy Director, Middle East, HKTDC announced here today that six international fairs covering toys, baby products, stationery, fashion, diamond, gem & pearls and jewellery industries will be held in Hong Kong in the coming January and March, which will offer ideal platforms for traders and suppliers from UAE to expand their businesses into new markets. The fairs are as below:

- HKTDC Hong Kong International Stationery Fair (11-14 January)

Abdul said that in 2015, HKTDC’s some 30 fairs attracted about 35,000 exhibitors and over 726,000 visitors from all over the world. He looked forward to welcoming more UAE corporations to explore business opportunities through exhibitions of HKTDC. He also highly encouraged all buyers, distributors and retailers from UAE to come to Hong Kong for sourcing. “The HKTDC fairs, well-known for their internationality and product diversity, will offer traders a world of business opportunities.” said Adbul.
The UAE is Hong Kong’s 15th largest trading partner. In the first nine months of 2015, the total trade value between the two places reached USD7.4 billion, with Hong Kong’s export to UAE reaching USD4.4 billion, and import value from UAE USD 3 billion.
Supported by a combination of international quality exhibitors and buyers, the fairs offer a one-stop marketing and sourcing platform, and represent prime opportunities for traders to gather the latest market intelligence. “We are in close ties with each other. Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) is delighted to give a hand to boost trade and strengthen this bilateral relation. With our concerted effort, I’m sure more trade opportunities will continuously be developed between Hong Kong and UAE.” said Abdul.
Each year, HKTDC organises more than 30 exhibitions in Hong Kong, from which form the eleven largest marketplaces of their kind in Asia, including Hong Kong Toys & Games Fair and Hong Kong Fashion Week for Fall/Winter; five are the largest in the world, namely the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show cum the Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show; Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition) cum electronic Asia; Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition) cum World of Outdoor Lighting & Lighting Accessories; Hong Kong Gifts & Premium Fair; and Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair.

The Toys & Games fair is the largest event of its kind in Asia and the second largest in the world. In 2016, HKTDC Hong Kong Toys & Games Fair will be held from 11-14 January at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, and expecting about 2,000 exhibitors from different countries and regions from the world. In the 2015 edition, more than 42,000 buyers attended the fair, in which over 150 of them came from UAE.
The fair this year features the debut of the UK pavilion, with other pavilions including the Chinese mainland, Indonesia, Taiwan, Korea, Spain, Thailand and World of Toys, showcasing a comprehensive range of product categories.
Highlighted zones include the Smart-Tech Toys, featuring innovative toys that combine traditional elements with tech features and apps. The size of the zone has been doubled to incorporate a wider range of exhibits with advanced technologies like Augmented Reality (AR), Near Field Communication (NFC) that offer exciting play experience.
World of Sports was a hit on debut in 2015 and it will return with a wide range of sporting goods as well as playground facilities. This zone will feature performance and demonstration of different sports games, including artistic cycling, juggling, artistic football and rope skipping, which will definitely enrich buyers’ sourcing experience.
Another popular zone is the Kidult World that covers sophisticated products created for grown-ups, including magic Items, hobby goods, action & war games, models and figurines designed for grown-ups.

Entering its 7th edition, the HKTDC Hong Kong Baby Products Fair is poised to offer a one-stop comprehensive sourcing platform for the industry. The 2016 Hong Kong Baby Products Fair is expecting over 500 exhibitors, including first-time exhibitors from Canada and Russia, as well as the debut of Korean Pavilion. The previous edition featured a record-breaking of more than 27,000 buyers from all over the world, in which about 100 of them came from UAE.
To optimise buyers’ sourcing experience, various theme zones are designed according to different baby products categories. They include Baby Bedding Items and Furniture, Baby Fashion Avenue, Baby Food and Healthcare Products, Feeding, Nursery and Maternity Products, Strollers and Gear and more, representing a complete spectrum of baby-related products.
Baby Toys & Activity is one of the most popular zones among visitors, covering a comprehensive range of educational tools, equipment and books for toddlers. Brand Name Gallery, a sophisticated platform for premium goods and designer collections, will feature over 40 brands, namely Bellini, Childwood, Goodbaby, Joovy and Inglesina.

The 16th edition of Hong Kong International Stationery Fair will be held concurrently with the Toys & Games Fair and the Baby Products Fair.
In 2016, the fair will welcome over 200 international exhibitors from all over the world, including Hong Kong, the Chinese mainland, the British Virgin Islands, Malaysia, France, Japan, Vietnam, Greece and the United States. Korea, Taiwan and Thailand will stage group pavilions, showcasing innovative products and unveiling the latest market trends. In 2015, over 20,000 buyers have attended the fair.
Five product zones are established, including “DIY Supplies”, “Gift Stationery”, “Kids & School”, “Pen & Paper” and “Smart Office”, providing an effective one-stop sourcing platform for international buyers.

The 47th edition HKTDC Hong Kong Fashion Week for Fall/Winter is the largest fashion fair in Asia. In 2016,it is expecting about 1,500 worldwide exhibitors and international brands to showcase their latest collections for the coming seasons. In the previous edition, there were over 22,000 buyers visited the fair.
More than ten zones with various themes are designed to fulfill buyers’ different demand. “Women’s wear” and “Knitwear” zones are newly established to strengthen their position to cater for the strong desire for ladies wear and winter garments; “Infant & Children’s Wear” Zone has been established to ride on the major growth driving force in the clothing industry; Other special zones include “Activewear& Swim Wear”, “Cashmere & Wool”, “Emporium de Mode” and more.
A series of fashion shows including house shows, Designers’ Collection Shows and fashion parades will be held during the fair as a platform for designers to introduce their brands to the international market.Past winners and finalists of the Hong Kong Young Fashion Designers’ Contest (YDC) will feature their collections at Fashionally Men’s Collection and demonstrate their creativity to buyers from around the world.
“World Boutique, Hong Kong”, which has taken place together with the Hong Kong Fashion Week for Fall/Winter in previous years, has renamed as CENTRESTAGE. It will be rescheduled to 7-10 September in 2016, to better align with the international fashion calendar. It is designed to be a dedicated marketing platform for international and regional brands, ready-to-wear and designer labels to showcase their collections, targeting regional fashion media, buyers and invited consumers.

Following the tremendous success in last edition, the 3rd edition of HKTDC Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show will open its door from 1-5 March 2016 at the AsiaWorld-Expo, while the 33rd edition of HKTDC Hong Kong International Jewellery Show will take place from 3-7 March 2016 at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre. The two fairs form the world’s largest jewellery marketplace.
Around 4,400 exhibitors are expected to gather at the twin shows in 2016, with some 30 pavilions set up to strengthen its position as the world’s largest international jewellery marketplace. In 2015, the two fairs welcomed a record-breaking number of over 76,000visitors, in which over 400 of them came from UAE.
In Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show, Rough Stones & Minerals will be making its debut at the show. Hall of Fine Diamonds shows carat-size loose diamonds to best advantage as well as provides a discreet trading ambience. Treasures of Nature features a rich source of precious stones in many different cuts. Treasures of Ocean features a wide variety of quality pearls.
The Jewellery Show features eight special zones for key market segments to meet buyers’ needs and targets. Wedding Bijoux and T-GOLD+METS pavilion, making their debut at the fair, features international professional jewellery and watch making machinery, equipment, technology and supplies. Besides, Hall of Fame brings together top-tier international brand names in a prestigious and elegant setting. Hall of Extraordinary is an elite section exclusively for high-end fine jewellery pieces. World of Glamour highlights the expertise in jewellery manufacturing of Hong Kong-based exhibitors. Antique & Vintage Jewellery Galleria showcases the glamour of classic jewellery from bygone times. Treasures of Craftsmanship features carvings from precious/semi-precious stones, gold or silver decorative items, precious ornaments and jewelled accessories.

Nowadays, buyers incline to purchase in small orders with quick turnaround time to reduce stock and save operational costs. In view of this, HKTDC will continue to set up Small-Order Zone to serve as the convenient platform for buyers to source in smaller lots ranging from 5 to 1,000 pieces.
