430,000+ guests celebrate 47th UAE National Day at Global Village

Global Village, the world’s leading multicultural Festival Park and the region’s first family destination for culture, shopping, and entertainment has revealed that more than 430,000 guests took part in its 47^th UAE National Day celebrations that took place from 30^th November to 3^rd  December 2018. The celebrations included a series of events.

To celebrate the UAE’s 47^th National Day, a host of cultural and entertainment events and festivities aimed at conveying the message of unity and progress took place at Global Village. The park was decorated in the colours of the UAE flag. More than 50,000 UAE flags were flying at the park and more than 30,000 UAE flags and shawls were distributed to guests. Guests were also impressed by the mega-musical fireworks display, which was also in the colours of the UAE flag.

Guests were treated to two of the best cultural shows that took place in the UAE during the National Day weekend. The first was the exclusive Operetta, ‘Zayed: Leader of the Humans’, performed by a cast of more than 25 artists from Ornina Arts and directed by Nasser Ibrahim. It was dedicated to the father and founder of the UAE, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The second was the special concert by Emirati star Hamad Al Ameri, that attracted people from across the UAE to sway at the Main Stage at Global Village.

Innovations developed by Global Village this year to get more people to recite the UAE National Anthem were much appreciated with enthusiastic involvement by guests. These included creating the largest gathering of people reciting the anthem with 10,000 partners from hundreds of nationalities and creating a smart vending machine that gave out prizes for the correct recitation of the National Anthem. Thousands of children and guests sang the anthem in front of it, posted their effort on social media and won more than 500 Global Village gold coins.

Guests also participated in painting a 5-meter wide UAE flag with their fingerprints and walked through a Ribbon Maze decorated with thousands of ribbons in the colours of the UAE flag at the newly introduced Celebration Walk.

Global Village welcomes guests for its 23rd season, which lasts for 159 days, until 6th April 2019. It opens from 4:00 pm – 12:00 midnight Saturday to Wednesday and from 4:00 pm – 1:00 am on Thursday, Friday and public holidays. Global Village entry is dedicated to families and women only on Mondays.
