DCT – Abu Dhabi showcases Emirati heritage at Qasr Al Muwaiji workshops

The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) has held a number of successful cultural programmes at Qasr Al Muwaiji in Al Ain that showcased the emirate’s cultural heritage and deep-rooted history.

The weekly and monthly workshops ran since October, covering topics such as archaeological excavation and the art of making the Royal Bisht. These enabled participants to gain a greater understanding of Emirati history, crafts and traditions. The workshops also introduced visitors to the recent restoration work at Qasr Al Muwaiji and helped raise awareness of the project.

The archaeological workshops allowed visitors to take part in excavation work under the supervision of specialists. At the bi-monthly Royal Bisht workshops, experts in the craft gave participants an insight into how the luxurious clothing is manufactured. The workshops also examined the collection of the Al Nahyan family’s bishts.

The free programmes, which were open to participants of all ages, concluded on 26^th December.
