MeraTicket.com sells tickets worth AED 1.3 million in first five months of operations in the UAE

MeraTicket.com, a leading entertainment ticket provider has sold 15,000 tickets for 17 events across UAE and has transacted tickets worth AED1.3 million in just five months of its operations in the country. A venture by Dubai-based, Shogun Global, the ticketing portal has ambitious growth plans and aims to bring fresh and innovative content to UAE. Their new calendar will see events customized for audiences across all age groups and artists from across the globe and will start from mid-August onwards.

The ticketing site has been functional in India and the US targeting Asian events and providing white label solutions for many properties including the Kingdom of Dreams in India.

“It has been an exciting and interesting journey so far. We had a sold-out first show and have had exclusive partnerships for 14 of our 17 events. This truly testifies the faith event organizers have put in us. The total event market size in the UAE is a quarter of a billion dirhams, out of which Asian events would roughly be a mere 10% and we see a lot of potential in this segment. Our aim is to bring newer concepts and showcase fresh content which will eventually boost the market size and increase penetration,”said Mr. Shirish Srivastava, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Shogun Global, the holding company for meraTicket.com in UAE.

Talking about their plans, Shirish said, “We are committed to deliver best-in-class content while being the preferred go-to platform for tickets for all the live South Asian events in UAE. The plan also involves promoting local talents, creating new properties and getting renowned international shows for other communities”.

Commenting on customer experience and future roadmap, Mr Salim Govani, a major stakeholder in the meraTicket.com venture, says, “With zero failure in the last couple of months, we have ensured seamless customer experience with ease of transactions and delivery. Selling over 15,000 tickets in such a short time is quite an achievement for any new market entrant in this category. Moreover, we are seriously looking to diversify our offerings by bringing exclusive shows for Russian, European and other Western audience while tapping into newer market segments including teenagers, rock concerts, club events etc. One such event for teenagers is being planned for September 2019”.

Salim Govani has stakes in several entertainments, healthcare, digital and automotive businesses amongst others and is famed for creating the brand Himalayan while making it the market leader in its category in India and later selling it to Tata Group at a market capitalization of $100 million.

In the last few months of its operations in the UAE, MeraTicket.com has brought Bollywood music concerts, Popular Theater, Comedy Shows, K Pop and popular bands from India. This year meraTicket.com intends to bring 8-10 big Concerts for both the South Asian as well as Western Audiences.
