Visitors to the Dubai Millennium Amphitheatre on Tuesday got to experience a laid-back performance from UAE-based singer-songwriter Rony Sarkis. With his smooth, soulful vocals, and mastery of the guitar, Sarkis entertains with his mix of indie rock, pop and blues.

The Lebanese musician has been playing since the age of 14, and now in his 20s has performed at venues across the UAE, as well as concerts and festivals – and now a World Expo. Inspired by the likes of Matt Corby, Paolo Nutini and Eric Clapton, Sarkis delivers a series of unique cover versions, as well as original compositions.

During his performance at Expo, Sarkis previewed new material, praised the support of his backing band, and even issued an apology towards the end, before the final song ‘Lady Winter’, joking to the crowd, “I know it got a bit intense, a bit too loud maybe, but it’s all in good fun.” But there were no complaints from onlookers, who enjoyed his breezy guitar-playing and distinctive voice.
