Canadian consul general in Dubai and UAE-based children’s author do joint reading of new book at SCRF 2023
Books are a great way of bringing cultures together and getting children to read, engage and become better people, the diplomat said at the Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival
The art of reading took on a new meaning at the 14th annual Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival (SCRF 2023), when Jean-Philippe Linteau, Consul General of Canada in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, UAE, and UAE-based Palestinian-Canadian author Nour Arab, joined hands for a joint reading of Arab’s new book in the Nour Publishing stall at the festival venue in Expo Centre Sharjah.
“It was a pleasure to read the copy of A Flower for Mommy by Nour Arab, in three different languages – English, French and Arabic. The children’s book was just published in French in Canada and was originally published in Arabic and English in the UAE,” said Linteau. “Books are a great way to bring cultures together and while they can be appreciated in every language, the story is what’s important, getting children to read, engage and become better people.”
SCRF is the region’s largest festival of its kind, dedicated to stimulate creativity in young minds and bring them closer to books. The event is running until May 14 in Expo Centre Sharjah and carries the theme ‘Train your Brain’.
