‘Everything feels new and exciting in Saudi Arabia’

World supergroup Swedish House Mafia are huge fans of Saudi Arabia, having performed in the Kingdom a number of times. On Friday night it was Steve Angello, one third of the Swedish house heroes, who brought the Week 6 concerts at Gamers8 to an incredible close. The superstar DJ, who dropped signature band tracks such as ‘Greyhound’, ‘Save The World’ and ‘Don’t You Worry Child’ in his hit-laden Gamers8 set, said: “Everything feels new and exciting in Saudi Arabia. The kids are starting to get into the culture of dance music in Saudi Arabia – it’s an exciting place.” Revealing he’s “always been a gamer”, Angello added that his favorite game over recent times has been Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, which he’s been loving since its 2019 release.

“Oh, she’s sweet but a psycho, a little bit psycho” – Ava Max certainly drove the Gamers8 crowd crazy excited on Friday night. Debuting in Saudi Arabia, the American pop heroine had the crowd in raptures with a set featuring hits such as ‘Kings & Queens’, ‘The Motto’, and, of course, No.1 sensation ‘Sweet but Psycho’. And one fan truly had a night to remember after getting their phone on stage during the performance. The songstress took some of her own images and videos before making sure the phone made it safely back to its owner – with the eager fan in the front row now having unique Ava Max keepsakes to treasure forever.

Mohamed Ramadan, the Egyptian singer, rapper, dancer, producer and actor, is a man of many talents – and he brought them all on show at Gamers8 on Friday night in an incredible hour-long performance. After the concert, Ramadan revealed: “It was a very wonderful concert, which is not surprising at all, because the Saudi fans are absolutely amazing and a major reason for the success of any artist. I love the Kingdom and I am always happy to return.” A fan of Gamers8, he added: “Electronic games were and still are an important part of our upbringing. I’m a gamer myself and I play different games, I believe some of them like the strategic ones are good for developing the way you think.”

Jeddah-born DJ Blacky opened the Week 6 concerts at Gamers8 on Friday night and said that appearing on a line up featuring Ava Max, Steve Angello, and Mohamed Ramadan was “a dream come true”. Blacky, a keen PlayStation gamer who revealed his favorite games are Call of Duty and FIFA, as well as Clash Royale on mobile, added: “It’s an amazing feeling to be at Gamers8. The music scene in Saudi Arabia is getting bigger day by day.”
