Cheval Blanc Courchevel to re-open for the 2014-2015 winter season
On 12 December 2014, when Cheval Blanc Courchevel re-opens for the 2014-2015 winter season, the Cheval Blanc Maison will unveil Peter Marino’s exciting new design for The White restaurant. Cheval Blanc Courchevel will also present its brand new Chalet by Sybille de Margerie – completely rebuilt and twice its original size, this fantastic independent three-bedroom suite will now include a spa and extensive outdoor areas – as well as a host of new bespoke venues and experiences for younger guests to enjoy.
The White – Cheval Blanc’s Savoyard Brasserie is redesigned by Peter Marino
Cheval Blanc is working with internationally renowned architect Peter Marino to create a vibrant and elegant new environment for its modern Alpine brasserie. Completely redesigned, The White will celebrate conviviality offering bistro-style seating and a family table for up to 10 guests. A bespoke cross shaped bench will be the centrepiece, housing four separate alcoves, for more intimate occasions and smaller parties.
Conviviality is also the trademark of the White’s menu – Yannick Alléno’s cuisine draws on the freshest hand-picked produce to create a deliciously simple dining experience. Traditional Savoyard specialties, with a special Alléno twist, are a must too. The White is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and is a particular hotspot at lunchtime, when guests can relax and enjoy an exquisite outdoor barbecue on the sunny slope-side terrace.
A brand new three bedroom Chalet complete with dedicated spa, screening room and extensive outdoor areas
Entirely rebuilt, and twice its original size, the three-bedroom Chalet will be unveiled as a new 315m² accommodation. Cleverly combining authentic mountain materials with original art pieces, Sybille de Margerie is creating a new Alpine jewel for friends and families looking for a very private and exclusive mountain experience.
The access to the Chalet will be decorated with hand-made glass inserts, and leads directly through to the Chalet’s private quarters, facing Gaps by Loris Cecchini – a new addition to the Maison’s art collection. Here guest will be able to take off their skiwear and don the Maison’s warm slippers before accessing any of the Chalet’s floors by private elevator.
Lavish interiors, dedicated outdoor areas, private spa, and more
The first level will comprise a spacious bedroom lined in grey brushed oak, with floor-to-ceiling windows that open onto a private terrace and garden, where comfortable loungers will invite guests to enjoy a cup of tea, hushed under a warm blanket and caressed by the mountain sun. The adjoining walk-in dressing room leads onto a generous Zebrano marble bathroom, naturally veined with the Maison’s signature taupe colour, where guests can unwind in the chromotherapy hammam shower or experience deep relaxation in the standalone bathtub.
In-chalet wellbeing will be taken to an entirely new level that can be enjoyed both in and outdoors. On the terrace, guests will be able to unwind in the Jacuzzi overlooking the Saulire summit and mountain landscape, while the private Spa and its Cheval Blanc specific Guerlain treatments will induce complete relaxation for the Chalet’s guests.
On the same floor, Chalet guests will also enjoy a dedicated, state-of-the-art cinema room – ideal for entertainment on snowy days or cosy evenings.
The heart of the Chalet
On the second floor, the second bedroom will be decorated in shades of soothing grey and warming red and has views across the slopes. Guests staying on this floor will also enjoy their own bathroom with a chromotherapy hammam and a large walk-in dressing room, typical of all Cheval Blanc accommodations, and will have access to a spacious living area with panoramic south and west views over the Trois Vallées mountains.
The living areas are all about being together – be it at the round table, seating eight for an exclusive and enjoyable dinner under the Frederik Molenschot chandelier, with its myriad of tiny lights, or on the snug sofas waiting for skiers to return home. Here guests will be able to enjoy the suspended rotating fireplace, curl up with a delicious hot chocolate, watch their favourite movie or embark on a journey with one of the novels from the Chalet’s entertaining library.
A panoramic balcony will run along this floor’s façade and offer stunning southwest mountain views.
Bop to the top
The master suite will cover the entire top floor. Decorated in tones of warm gold and elegant black, the spacious master bedroom includes an ensuite living room, complete with a private bar, and leading onto the balcony, where guests will be able to enjoy a sunny breakfast or afternoon tea after a day on the slopes.
All of the signature Cheval Blanc attributes will be present and magnified on this floor – this is the pièce de résistance. The extensive couple’s walk-in dressing room will feature two distinct areas, an elegant and chic dressing table for Madame and a spacious closet for each guest. An oversized double bathtub will add to the wellbeing experience in the master bathroom, whose walls will be lined with white and taupe Zebrano marble.
To ensure absolute comfort, the Chalet’s entertainment, temperature and lighting will be controlled by an automated iPad. The Chalet will also offer an Air Play sound system.
Twinkle, twinkle…
Directly connected to the Maison, two completely new areas will open their doors to younger guests and take them on a fantastic journey.
Le Carrousel
With its magic wand, Cheval Blanc Courchevel will unveil a whole new world full of fun, excitement and discovery for young explorers. At the entrance to the new Carrousel, children and their parents will follow a multi-coloured felt floor that will lead to a wall displaying children’s creations, be it colourful handprints or customised snowmen… this will be a fun and ever-changing work of art. A number of alcoves and secret passages behold a world to discover and invite children to engage in different and exciting activities: throwing a tea party for their favourite dolls, becoming handymen for an afternoon, enjoying a world of arts & crafts, or dressing up in their dream costume are but some of the choices. On their way out, children and parents will be able to admire an animated window filled with little figurines and changing themes, reminiscent of magical scenes in holiday store windows.
Le Paddock
This season will also bring a completely new space for teenagers, who will discover a futuristic cocoon with wood ceilings and felt covered floors, offering cutting-edge entertainment – from a made-to-measure table football to an interactive dance floor. Every day and on request, the Paddock will be able to transform into a private screening room, allowing teens to laze in comfortable sofas created just for Cheval Blanc, and watch their favourite movies.
As with every new season, Cheval Blanc’s teams will lovingly create a number of memorable experiences for children and their parents to complete their ski holiday – from husky sledging through the forest to ice-sculpting, families are sure to enjoy Courchevel’s incredible mountain setting to the full.
A snowdrift of surprises
Every winter, Cheval Blanc Courchevel opens its doors with amazing new treats to continuously surprise its loyal guests and their families. One of this year’s surprises will include a custom-made snowboard, developed specially for the Maison by Nidecker, offering guests an enhanced mountain experience at the world’s largest ski domain.
