Kempinski Hotel Ajman Launches The Pearl High Tea

High tea, originally from England where high tea used to be a meal especially among labourers, has a whole new meaning at Kempinski Hotel Ajman. High tea refers to a more traditional tea with light meal and dessert offerings, but back in the day, it was usually a part of the evening meal taken after sunset. Kempinski Hotel Ajman serves high tea from 9:00am to 9:00pm, pairing the beautiful combination of live piano performances with the luxurious experience of high tea.
“During Christmastime, we experimented with our Teddy Bear High Tea, which became very popular, and for the summer season, we decided to create The Pearl High Tea. It is a well-balanced combination between Arabic, Asian and European food, since we have carefully chosen the flavours to please all taste palates. Among the delicacies, guests can enjoy European-style sandwiches with Norwegian salmon, chicken shish taouk with hummus, Asian-style prawn tempura with soya dip and vegetarian vol-au-vent with mushrooms and asparagus. The highlight that gives the concept its namesake of ‘The Pearl’ is a handmade, smooth and tender chocolate ball filled with raspberry and rose water carefully placed on a tiny chocolate pillow, abstractly emphasising the overall experience. All of the sweets are handmade by our pastry chefs, consisting of traditional scones with condiments, handmade truffles with white chocolate and passion fruit and raspberry tarts,” said pastry Chef Chandana Nishantha.
The name ‘Pearl High Tea’ was created by Food & Beverage Director Mr Anish Kuttan, referring to the fact that individual pearls were found in excavations on archaeological sites more than 7,000 years ago in the United Arab Emirates, and the pearl oyster used to be a source of wealth in the Emirates long before the discovery of oil.
“We wanted to look back to the past and point out the success and the wealth that made the country what it is today. Inviting our guests to enjoy the Pearl High Tea and telling them the story with great service is a great way of highlighting the culture and national heritage.”
The Pearl High Tea can be enjoyed daily from 9:00am until 9:00pm at the Lobby Lounge in Kempinski Hotel Ajman.
