With summer travel just around the corner for most of us, this is the time of year that everyone is planning or finalizing their vacation. Usually this is a two or three-week tour of some kind- vacations, business, conferences… whatever one is leaving home for, it is necessary to pack the bare essentials!
While different trips will have different demands on the luggage, the only common thing is that one needs to plan. So, limiting the number of shoes, or pants or clothes is the right thing to do. But more important is to choose the right bag for the journey. Every little bit of space helps. Here are some Do’s and Don’ts of packing!
Thumb Rules to Travel Smart:
Tip 1# Lighter is Better
Going for something lighter and better is wise. Pick the right carry-on and experience the freedom of not worrying about extra baggage fees
Tip 2# If it doesn’t fit– don’t bother.
Do with what you have! Roll your clothes instead of folding them. It minimizes wrinkles and therefore you don’t have to worry about the quality of your hotel iron. It also frees up a lot of space for other traveling necessities.
Tip 3# Bulk is bad and the key is to minimize heavy items
To avoid unnecessary bulk you can easily forgo many items, particularly hair dryers and most toiletries. Hotels and hosts typically will oblige, and, if need be, you can pick up toiletries at a drugstore.
Tip 4# Always leave some space for shopping
It is definitely a great idea to spare some space in your suitcase as shopping can’t be avoided while travelling to a different place. You never know if you may land up with a good bargain!
Tip 5# Make the most of an organizer
Can’t handle the necklaces, bracelets and earrings getting tangled? An organizer will be great to section them separately. A cosmetic case will keep the makeup organized and larger beauty products in a zip lock bag will avoid spills.
Tip 7# Recycled-outfit policy is not all that bad
There’s a very good chance you can wear certain wardrobe pieces more than once in a single trip.
In a nutshell, go stylish, simple, and very light is the mantra this summer. Remember, in your travels you’ll meet two kinds of tourists — those who pack light and those who wish they had…. Our verdict- former is better!
