The Center for Advanced Simulation in Healthcare (CASH) of Gulf Medical University (GMU) conducted an ‘Intensive Workshop on Clinical EKG’, at the University campus in Ajman on 20th and 21st November 2015.
The course, accredited by MoH for 13 CME hours was conducted by Dr. Ehab. M. Esheiba, Clinical Assistant Professor and Head of Cardiology Department, Gulf Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, Gulf Medical University. Course Contents included: EKG in CAD, Drug Effects, Electrolyte Imbalance & Metabolic Disorders, Pericardial, Myocardial and Pulmonary Diseases & Pre- Excitation Patterns, Arrhythmias, Pacemakers, Considerations / Limitations / Pitfalls.
The intensive workshop aimed to extend and update the clinical EKG interpretation knowledge of health professionals who have a thorough basic understanding of EKG.
It provided an ideal opportunity to learn systematic approach to elucidate challenging 12 lead EKG, as in complex arrhythmias, myocardial ischemia and infarctions.
The main focus of the workshop was to assist the participants to achieve more advanced levels of electrocardiogram interpretation through brief Interactive lectures and discussions and to avoid common misconceptions through Pearls and Pitfalls, Tips and Tricks.
The participants at the workshop included doctors, interns, residents, nurses, paramedical staff and other healthcare professionals from reputed hospitals across the country.
