Emirates Loto

Emirates Loto, the region’s first fully digital collectables scheme with optional free entry to a weekly draw still has a huge AED 50 million up for grabs for collectable buyers over the weekend, following eight consecutive weeks of no jackpot winners to date. Just as temperatures in the region start to soar, so could the bank balance of what might be the first-ever jackpot winner this weekend.

Last weekend saw as many as 10 lucky UAE residents share AED 1 million, including the first-ever British, Serbian and Senegalese Emirates Loto winners. The remaining seven winners were made up of four people from the Philippines and three from India.

29-year-old British recruitment consultant Lee Mills thought he was being pranked when he was contacted by Emirates Loto to let him know of his winnings. Lee plans to share his fortune with family and donate to a charity he supports in the United Kingdom.

IT project manager Daniela Dokovic from Serbia was overjoyed to win, as she had never won anything before. She too committed to helping her family members and supporting some special charities with her winnings. Similarly a 30-year-old Senegalese waiter promised to help a charity association in his home country called ‘Aidons les Talibés’ (Help Homeless Youth) with his winnings. He also said he would give some money to a good friend who brought him over to Dubai and helped him to get a job here.

Three of the ten winners won by selecting winning numbers based on the birthdates of their family members – Damian Jr Alagdon Porcare and Helen Capulong Simbulan from the Philippines, and Oberoi N Joseph from India. The two Filipino winners promised to share some of their winnings with charities that help those who have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and Oberoi Joseph will donate to the Precious Heritage Ministries Foundation Philippines.

41-year-old engineer, Archie Mercado, from the Philippines told Emirates Loto that he will use his winnings to build a house and Vinesh Kumar, a 45-year-old Indian electrical engineer who resides in Sharjah, will use the money to support his family. The final two winners to share the cash prize – one from the Philippines and the other from India – asked that their identities remain anonymous.

The next live draw will take place at 9.00 PM on Saturday 13 June and will be dedicated to Philippines Independence Day. The draw may be viewed live on www.emiratesloto.com, Emirates Loto’s social media platforms and on Asianetnews Facebook page.
